Virtual-Memory-Organization

In most computer system, the physical main memory is not as large as the address space of the processor . In reality the physical memory that we use in acomputer systems is less. When we run a program that will not completely fit into the main memory data space that it’s the physical main memory when they are requires for execution are called virtual memory technique. The address issued by the processor is called virtual address . The virtual address is translater into physical address by a combination of hardware and software components. If a virtual address refers to apart of the program or data space that is currently in the physics memory, then it is accessed immediately. If the referenced address is not in the main memory, its contents must be brought into main, memory before it can be used.
Figure shows a typical organization of a virtual memory. A special hardware unit called Memory Management Unit ( MMU ) translates virtual address into physical address.
